Britney Chauntè Johnson is not just an esthetician—she’s a visionary, a self-love advocate, and a force determined to redefine wellness, particularly for Black men. Through her brand, Self Love In A Safe Space, she creates a sanctuary where self-care is not a luxury but a necessity—an act of survival, healing, and empowerment.
Born in San Diego, California, and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Britney’s story is one of resilience, faith, and the pursuit of purpose. From an early age, she embodied the spirit of independence, getting her first job at just 15, not out of necessity, but out of a deep desire to forge her own path. With two hardworking parents who instilled in her the value of diligence and wise decision-making, she learned that success wasn’t simply handed to you—it was earned.

At 25, Britney’s world took an unexpected turn when her father was diagnosed with cancer. A year after moving into her first apartment, she returned home to be by his side. For five years, she watched him fight, holding onto hope until the day he took his last breath. Losing him shattered her world.
“When my dad passed away, my entire perspective on life shifted completely. You can do everything ‘right’ and still, tomorrow is not promised,” Britney shares.

It took a year for her to realize she had not truly grieved his loss. Therapy and prayer became her guiding light, helping her heal and see life with renewed clarity. One of her first realizations was that her 9-to-5 job in medical billing and coding no longer fulfilled her. She wanted more—something that ignited passion within her, something she loved. And so, she took a leap of faith.
Britney’s passion for beauty led her to start her own business, initially focusing on brows and lash extensions. While she loved perfecting brows, she soon realized lashes weren’t where her heart lay. The real transformation happened when she met Candace Holyfield Parker, a mentor who saw in Britney what she hadn’t yet fully recognized in herself: purpose.
Britney had endured so much—losing her father, a painful divorce, and the challenge of reinventing herself. But through mentorship, she began to flourish both personally and professionally.
Her brand evolved, and she discovered a new mission: advocating for skincare and self-care among Black men.

Britney’s revelation was deeply personal. Growing up, she witnessed her father prioritizing self-care—a rarity among Black men. She recalls how his dedication to looking and feeling good, combined with his strong faith in God, shaped his positive mindset.
But in her work, she noticed that most Black men had never been taught the value of skincare and self-care. Many grew up believing that grooming was merely functional, not an act of self-respect, mental clarity, or emotional well-being.
Determined to shift this narrative, Britney built a space where men could feel safe investing in themselves.
She wanted them to understand that self-care is not feminine it’s foundational. It is a practice that fosters confidence, self-respect, and improved mental health.
Britney’s journey of healing inspired her to create something bigger than herself—Self Love In A Safe Space. This event is more than just a gathering; it is a movement. It brings men and women together to be vulnerable, heal from inner traumas, and connect with others who share similar struggles.
Her book, "Talk Nice To Me – An Affirmation Journey To Self-Love," was born from her lowest moments. After losing her father, enduring a divorce, and navigating life alone in a sparsely furnished apartment, Britney found herself on her knees, praying for strength. She discovered that affirming herself daily was the key to rebuilding her confidence and reclaiming her power.
