Aisha Taylor Issah, a trailblazing entrepreneur, ordained minister, and professor, is making waves with her innovative retail space, The Sistah Shop. Located in Atlanta's popular Atlantic Station, The Sistah Shop offers a unique hybrid model, showcasing products from over 500 brands owned by entrepreneurial women of color through curated collections and weekend pop-up vendors.
Despite its success, Issah’s store faced a challenging year, nearly on the brink of closing due to financial hardships. Issah turned to social media for support, a move that would lead to an unforgettable turn of events. Her plea caught the attention of entrepreneur Nehemiah Davis and influencer David Shands, who orchestrated a powerful “flash mob” of shoppers. These supporters, led by local business owners, flooded The Sistah Shop and purchased $14,000 worth of merchandise in a single day, revitalizing Issah’s business.
“I had no idea,” Issah tearfully shared with the crowd, having been in church “praying for a miracle” when the flash mob took action. This heartwarming moment of community support underscores the power of collaboration, showing the immense potential when entrepreneurs, influencers, and customers come together to uplift Black women-owned businesses.
