š¶ Hey there, music mavens and party people! Ready to dive into a whirlwind of beats, celebs, and unexpected twists? HerReaders well, hold onto your seats, because this blog post is taking you on a ride through our exhilarating journey at the ATL Funk Fest ā our very first concert experience as media! š
Let's rewind to the beginning, where all epic stories start ā with a connection that bloomed into something magical. Say hello to Queen Ruthie, the ultimate connector of dreams and destiny! A lunch meeting a day before the Funk Fest marked the beginning of a rollercoaster of emotions. We met her at the ICandy event. The start might've been as rocky as an unplugged guitar, but isn't that how the best stories unfold? Our media passes played hard to get and refused to show up on the VIP list. Imagine, we were like Cinderella left waiting for the glass slipper! We were waiting for over an hour to get in,
But hey, the showbiz whirlwind swirled around us, and like the true champs we are, we held our ground at the artist's entrance, watching for those golden media passes to grace us with their presence. Talk about nerve-racking excitement! Invited just a day before, we were determined to strut our stuff and make some noise for our brand ā the magazine that's only 6 months young but growing faster than a viral TikTok dance challenge.
While the clock ticked and the sun played peek-a-boo with the clouds, guess who sauntered by? None other than Raz-B from B2K, dishing out style lessons like a fashion stylist. Cargo pants, a kahi jacket, and shades that could blind the paparazzi ā this guy oozed coolness from every fiber of his being.
Ah, but in the midst of showbiz chaos, we found a moment of serenity to send up a little prayer to God. And lo and behold, God answered ā with our long-awaited media passes! It was like Christmas morning, New Year's Eve, and our birthday all rolled into one. Armed with our personalities as bright as neon lights and our trusty photographer, Loc N Free, we stepped into the celebrity's lair with stars in our eyes.
A feast for the senses awaited us ā scrumptious food and chilled beverages that were basically a symphony for our taste buds. We ate a little! , before we had to get to work and networking. Queen Ruthie played the ultimate matchmaker, introducing us to the one and only Raz-B. Cue the dramatic music, because he agreed to an interview! If excitement were a currency, we'd be millionaires right then.
Mind you we already felt unprepared because we usually don't interview celebrities for our magazine, and we felt like we did not have the right equipment.. But we had ourselves and personality and our amazing photographer Loc N Free.
Fast forward a bit, and we're in the interview zone, unraveling the spiritual meaning behind his name! After the interview was almost done, there was a twist! He introduced us to his CBD gummies ā and little did we know, they'd take us on a high like a rocket ship to the moon.
Want to see the interview check out the interview on our YouTube channel, and you'll get what we mean! Video will be on our channel https://www.youtube.com/@becominghermag
As if the night wasn't already a symphony of awesomeness, enter Ella Mai. With style that could put fashion runways to shame and grace that could make swans jealous, her performance was like a masterclass in musical finesse. Want to pictures of Ella Mae, check out Our magazine section "HerNightlight", she was amazing to watch.
But wait, there's more! Day 2 arrived with a bang, a crescendo of male artists that set our hearts racing ā Jeezy, Juvenile, Keith Sweat, Carl Thomas, and Tela ā all under the same roof! The drama? Parking was a journey, will call, and the backstage buzz that could rival a beehive. But like pros, we navigated the chaos, and the back lounge transformed into a galaxy of stars. Seriously, you name it ā Ming Lee, Kandi, Monyetta Shaw, Momma Dee, Nicole Crump ā they were all there, they were sitting in the same area as us. However, we were there to do a job interview and create a buzz for our brand.
We became the media to talk to as we interview some of the brightest names in the biz. Nicole Crump, TV's very own queen from BMF and more, shared tales that had us glued to our seats. Oh, and don't even get us started on the owner of Blvk Spades ā we had to pinch ourselves to believe this was real!
So there you have it, folks ā our first concert as media, a tale spun with threads of excitement, stars, and a dose of CBD-induced euphoria. Remember, life's a stage, and we're dancing to the beats of every unexpected turn it takes. Stay tuned for more as we groove through this journey called life. Until next time, keep the music loud and the dreams even louder! š¤š¶āØ
